The Lightweight Reunion is a popular stop to visit drag racing icons and see their cars.
Rain and the forceast for more of the same dampened day one of the annual Carlisle Ford Nationals Presented by Gumout Performance Products. Slight showers arrived at 3 p.m. but the accompanying winds made many decide to leave the fairgrounds to return today. The Saturday activity schedule is a full one with a special tribute to Carroll Shelby at noon. At that time, everyone will be asked to rev their engines in memory of the man who has contributed so much to Ford performance. Team Shelby Northeast has a good contingent of cars on hand and there are plenty of vehicles of all generations from oldest to newest. Ford's walkarounds proved very poular with the 2013 GT500 being the first car to center stage. The Lightweight reunion is seeing good crowds and the vendor traffic is up for many of the swap meet area participants.
